Beyond Technique in Solution

I remember my first clinical supervisor, many years ago, repeating over and over again, "Stay with the feelings." Later, when I took training in family therapy, another supervisor kept saying, "Stay away tfom the feelings." Today, I tell trainees, "Dont ignore the feelings."

Ten spočívá v přesvědčení, ţe mysl či duše představuje jeden z konkrétních projevů přírodního dění, a ţe toto dění samo má duševní charakter.

The Bioethical Dimension od Maturana's Thought

Introduced in 1970, bioethics is now more and more commonly used since it applies to a variety of concepts belonging to traditional Western thought. Just like other dualisms that are typical of traditional Western thought (e.g., mind/body, subject/object, philosophy/science), bioethics is developing in areas that are mostly isolated from each ...

Biological computing from Heinz von Foerster

When Henry Markram walks into the air-conditioned computer facilities in the basement of the École Polytechnique Fédérale’s Brain Mind Institute in Lausanne, Switzerland, he doesn’t see the black monolithic cabinets, jam-packed with seemingly endless layers of circuit boards and microprocessors. What Markram sees are neurons, synapses and cortical columns that ...

Biology of Language: The Epistemology of Reality

I am not a linguist, I am a biologist. Therefore, I shall speak about language as a biologist, and address myself to two basic biological questions, namely: 1. What processes must take place in an organism for it to establish a linguistic domain with another organism? 2. What processes take ...

Biology’s Room With a View

The diverse papers which make up this book are variations on a theme which is based in biological science - yet none of the contributors is really a biologist. Our metaphor for describing what we are doing here is that we have gathered together in a room because that particular ...

A Brief History of the BCL: Heinz von Foerster and the Biological Computer Laboratory

I am attempting a preliminary interpretation of a small and, as I believe, unusual chapter of the history of science from the late 1950s to the mid-1970s, one that has received little attention up to now. And I am equally motivated by the fact that the BCL has very seldom ...

Dále se pokouší popsat psychoterapeutický přístup, nazývaný ‚zen terapie‘, najít podobnosti i rozdíly tohoto směru s některými známými ‚západními‘ školami a popsat zen-terapii z hlediska obecných procesů ...

Cats Under the Stars: A Narrative Story

This paper provides an introduction to Narrative Therapy. This post-structural approach represents a movement away from the dominant therapeutic approaches that privilege psychological or biological theories over the client's experience of problems. Distinctions are made between narrative ideas and traditional psychosocial points of view in the areas of what a ...
