Terapeuti se nemají pokoušet dělat pro klienty to, co klienti mohou pro sebe udělat sami. To znamená, že terapeuti nemají zásobit klienty užitečnými otázkami, když to klienti sami dělají lépe. Kdykoliv klienti sami dovedou: Myslet, dotazovat se, odpovídat si, hodnotit, tak terapeuti od tohoto upustí. To je způsob, jakým se klienti, ne terapeuti, stávají lepšími v pomáhání sami sobě.
